FOREIGN INTERFERENCE:
The IJC was deeply involved with the important work of Canada’s Foreign Interference Commission overseen by the Honorable Marie-Josée Hogue. As the first Iranian-Canadian organization to be granted standing to provide testimony to this Commission, the IJC drew attention to the Iranian regime’s interference in Canada and its efforts at transnational repression.

Achievements:
The IJC introduced a leading community activist to speak about Iranian regime interference and intimidation in Canada during the first phase of the Commission (April, 2024).
IJC members also participated in off-the-record consultations with Commissioner Hogue to discuss community concerns and provide examples of Iranian regime interference in Canada (September, 2024).
A member of the IJC, Dr. Farzaneh Fard, appeared before the second phase of the Commission and provided views on how the Government of Canada can best combat Iranian regime interference and how all levels of government can work to protect the Iranian-Canadian community (October, 2024)
